Weigh-in

I got weighed last night after turbo, I only lost a pound this week.

I did good(not great) with my eating, and excercising, but I didn't drink much water.
In-fact somedays I didn't drink any. And we all know how inportant it is to drink at least 8 cups a day!
I also didn't have the drive I had the week before, but I do this week.
One pound off is better than gaining, or even staying the same.
So this is a total of 5.6 pounds in 2 weeks!
I also came across acouple other weight loss blogs that are very inspirational!

This girl  Zoe went to the same school as me, she looks amazing and is only about half way thru her weight loss journey.

And this girl Jen has lost a ton of weight ( 90 pounds) and is so inspirational! Just reading her blog gives me will power!

Another great, busy weekend in the Scanlon household!

Keilee had ballet first thing Saturday morning, then it was off to the rink for Raven's hockey practice, and then River & Keilee's hockey practise followed right after Ravens.

Neither River or Keilee stayed on the ice the whole practice.....I have been having a problem last weekend and this weekend with them at practice.

I sit upstairs at the rink ( the heated area with a large window looking onto the ice surface, there is also a 52 inch tv up there that the kids like to watch cartoons on) when the girls see me up their when they are on the ice, they want to get off the ice and come upstairs with mommy!

Sorry but I didn't pay hundreds of dollars for them to come upstairs with me and watch tv on the big tv!

SO I have come up with a new rule for hockey practice.....Mommy needs to bring a blanket and dress to sit in the cold bleachers.....theres no fun in the bleachers, and hopefully they will want to stay on the ice!

After River & Keilee's (short lived) hockey practice, we headed 25 minutes to another town called Murrary River to watch another hockey game!
Friends of ours that live in Nova Scotia, were over for the weekend on a hockey tournament.

That evening, hubby and I went out on a date to the movies. ( I did have some popcorn, but no butter, and diet coke) We went to see Paranormal Activity. It was horrible. I wish we would have gone to see A Christmas Carol. :(

Today, was a little less busy, I had to return a bus to one driver that I was subbing for and then go and pick up another bus, for another driver that I am subbing for mon, tues & wed. This took me almost 1hr 30 minutes to do ( they lived 40 minutes away from each other).

My grandmother (Nan Gillam) fell hit her head and blackend both her eyes, and is in the hospital. She is doing better now, but for a few days, she was completely out of it, talking nonesense, freaking out at the nurses ( which is so not her), and worrying us all half to death. She has to have another CT Scan tommorrow, please pray that everything comes back good, and that she gets better and can go home soon!
She is my best friend, and I love her so much! I hate seeing her like this.

I also managed to get a few pics of my 2 baby nieces...

and Miss Ava Lynn!

Hope you all had a great weekend!

I decided to start a blog to track my journey in weight loss, and to also, keep me on track. But, its hard to keep two blog's going, and seeing as it sometimes takes me a few days between entries on this blog that I am going to combine  the two.But don't worry I will keep my "weighty" posts to one a week. :)  I have a lot of weight to lose, and need to lose it NOW! I have tried so many times, but always fall off the wagon after 3 weeks or so. I need this to be the last time I start a "diet", I need this to be the time I succeed.

I have been over weight for the past 7 years. I had my first child at 19, and gained 70 pounds. After having her, I only lost 50 of it. Then with my second child I gained another 60 pounds, and did not lose any of it. Luckily, with my third child, I didn't gain any weight, in fact I lost 15 pounds, but gained it back within a year after having her.

My husband has many health issues, which have included cancer, chronic pain, and chronic kidney stones. I HAVE to be the healthy parent. Thus far, I haven't had any health problems due to being over weight, but I am almost 30 and I am sure if I stay this size any longer it will catch up to me. My children ( 3 girls) are ages 8, 5 and 3. I need to be happy and healthy for them, and right now I am neither. So here I go, here is a before picture of me.

I have signed up for a exercise class "Turbo Jam" its 3 night a week for an hour a night and it is mid-high intensity. I am also going to go to the gym at least 3 times a week. So that covers excercise, and as far as eating goes, I am going to make healthy food choices, make sure to eat 3 - 4 small meals a day, along with healthy snacks, and the big one....drink at least 8 cups of water a day!

I am also going to reward myself for every 20 pounds I lose. The first 20 pounds I lose I am getting a mani/pedi. The 2nd 20 pounds I lose I am buying 10 tanning sessions, etc. Things that will make me feel better about myself, and want to keep going!

I know this is going to be one of the hardest things I have ever done, but I am so ready for it. I can't wait to get to that point where all my clothes is getting loose, and people start noticing and commenting on my weight loss.

My sister Chandler lost 40 pounds last year, and she looks amazing! I also have a friend who for the first time in years in below 200, and she too looks amazing.
This is Chandler last October ( before she started getting fit)

This is her last June, and she has lost a bunch since that!

Val 2 summers ago

Val now! She looks so good!

And look a this lady, her name is anthea, she was one of our neighbors in Shearwater. He husband was so proud of her accomplishment he put these pics of facebook himself.

These pictures are all of women I know, they are not pics I found on the internet of people I don't know, so I can see the real difference, and it just blows me away their transformations. I want to jump on hte band wagon, I want to see what my transformation will look like!

In a year from now, I want to look back at this entry and that before pic and just say "WOW, I have come a long way!"

I will do an entry each week, about how the week went, weight and inches lost, and what I did or didn't do, and how I can improve, and how I feel. I really hope if anyone reading this is on the same journey as me or has lost a significant amount of weight, will leave me a comment to incourage me, or give advice.

For those of you who have been reading my blog for awhile, you may ( or may not) know, that we are buying a house from my parents. The house was a 6 apartment complex for over 20 years. Before that, it was an executive rancher home. My dad bought the house 35 years ago, built  a peice on, and converted the whole thing into 6 apartments. We ( meaning me as a child, my sisters and parents) never lived here, we always had our own house elsewhere.

Last year when my parents moved back to  ("HOME") PEI  from Yellowknife, NWT, they decided to build a house, and sell the apartments. They offered the apartment complex to us for a very VERY great price, and the deal was that we ( meaning my husband & I , and our kids, my mom & dad and only sister living home Chandler) would all live in the apartment complex ( hubs, me and 3 girlies in the 2 bedroom top floor apartment) and my parnets and sister on the main floor which they converted back into one ( was 3) living quatrter, until their house was finished being built. The 2 basement apartments contiue to be rented by previous tenants.

Are ya lost yet? LOL

So this is where we are all still....Mom & Dad's house is almost half way finished!

I CAN NOT WAIT to move into our house ( meaning down to the main floor), and take over this entire building! We already have a family that wants to move into the 2 bedroom top floor apartment as soon as we move out!

We also plan on doing an entire makeover to the outside of the house, new siding, windows ,doors re-shingling the roof, new landscaping, new patios, etc.

To keep my sanity, I have been on HGTV's Rate my Space and some of the home tours that people like Kelly from Kelly's Corner has done, searching for decorating ideas, and dreaming of what I am going to do to "my" house.

So here is the "before" pics of the master bathroom

( DISCLAIMER: THE PICTURES YOU ARE ABOUT TO SEE ARE VERY DISTURBING, UGLY AND IT MAY HURT YOUR EYES! LOL)

(SEE I TOLD YA!)

Ok, here is one of the pics that I have found that is similar (in layout only) to the masterbath room.
We are not planning on replacing the existing vanity ( just counter top and sink), and I really like the one in this picture that is painted black....., also I like the 2 wall sconces and placement next to the window, and the picture above the toilet.

I love everything about this bathroom! Really love the curtains, and the crown molding.

We want to put laminet in our masterbath, I know, I know, its not really meant for bathrooms, but my aunt has it in her bathroom and in her kitchen and she hasn't had any problems with it. amd it looks so nice!

And speaking of my Aunt ( Barb), she has a beautiful house, that when they bought it was nothing the way it looks today. I will go and take some pics of her house and post them on here, I love her style, and my style resembles hers( just hers is way better).

Ever heard of this quote? :

“The biggest mistake I made [as a parent] is the one that most of us make. … I did not live in the moment enough. This is particularly clear now that the moment is gone, captured only in photographs. There is one picture of [my three children] sitting in the grass on a quilt in the shadow of the swing set on a summer day, ages six, four, and one. And I wish I could remember what we ate, and what we talked about, and how they sounded, and how they looked when they slept that night. I wish I had not been in such a hurry to get on to the next thing: dinner, bath, book, bed. I wish I had treasured the doing a little more and the getting it done a little less”

Well, I haven't, until I read it on this blog post, Stephanie, from Somewhat Simple is doing a blog swap and wrote the blog entry that I found that quote on.

This quote made me cry, because it is so true, and it is what I do. My 3 girls are ages 8, 5 & 3 and time is flying by, it seems like just yesterday I had a 5, 2 & 8 month old. I don't live in the moment enough. Or I am to busy trying to keep my house clean, or have meals cooked on time that I don't pay attention to the little things....and before you know it the little things will be grown up and moved away. I really wish I could keep all 3 of my girls at the very age they are right now...or atleast slow time way down so it drags on ...when they were babies, I always felt I couldn't wait until they were a little older, so it would be easier, when they could tell me what they wanted or even get it themselves.... people use to tell me how fast they would grow up, but when you are doing 3 - 4 feedings a night it does not seem like it goes fast enough....but it does and POOF they are 8, 5 & 3.

I am very lucky, that I have a career that I can be both home with my kids and working ( out of the home ). As I have said in previous posts, I am School Bus Driver, and I LOVE my job. So I am home every weekday from 9am -2pm, and then home agin in time to make supper! I am home every holiday, my kids are, every PD day, etc.

From now on I am going to slow down and pay more attention to the little things....15 years from now, neither me or my girls are going to remember how clean the house was on such and such day, but we will remember what we did together, playing, laughing, making memories.

I am so very glad that Stephanie did that blog entry, and that I came across it. That I can change it so that it will not be one of my regrets.

She also did a tutorial on how to make this

(I took the pics this summer, my 3 little sets of tootsies)

a nice little reminder, that I am going to print out and frame, and look at everyday, especially those hectic days, that I am so used to saying to the girls  " Just go play, Mommy is busy".

Rainy Day Blues

Today is one of those days, that I don't feel like doing anything, except curled up on the couch with a blanket, a steaming cup of coffee, and my laptop. Listening to my rainy day blues playlist...yes I have a playlist for rainy days.... I tried to save my playlist in the post, but it wouldn't let me for some reason, and I know nothing about html code...so I changed my main playlist to my rainy day playlist.
 The songs on it are
Secret Garden - Bruce Springsteen ( From Jerry MaGuire...love it)
Don't Stop Believing -Journey ( If you watch the show Glee, you would have seen this song performed )
Alone - Heart ( Another song performed on Glee, I knew the song before  Glee made me fall in love with it)
Halo - Bethany Joy Lentz ( That's Haley James Scott from One Tree Hill, I love her on OTH and her music)

There is a buch of other songs, so feel free to go and  take a look. It is at the bottom of the page!

This picture sums up exactly how I feel today.....

I found this picture here

I love rainy days, there is just something refreshing, and comforting about them, and the darker the better. I have always felt this way, ever since I can remember. Is this normal? or does anyone else feel like this?

I also like to watch movies on rainy days, here are a few of my favorite rainy day movies, in no particular order

Jerry MaGuire
Sleepless in Seatle
Girls Just want to have fun
The Wedding Date

Do any of you have favorite rainy day activities?

We had a really nice visit from Blaine's parents, the last 4 days.
His parents live in Newfoundland, but his father works in Ontario all summer, and his mother flies up to Ontario (to visit their other son Stephen, his wife Maxine, and daughter Sherry)and they drive back together. They always stop in for a couple days to visit us, this is the first time they have visited us in PEI. Last year this time we were still living in Nova Scotia. This also was Blaine's dads first time on PEI.

The kids loved having their Nanny & Poppy Scanlon here. My parents live here, in the same town, so we see them everyday, it was a treat to have the other set of grandparents here.

River & Kiki giving Poppy Scanlon big hugs...

This is pretty much what all 3 girls did the whole time Nanny & Poppy Scanlon was here...LOL

We were sad to see them go, but we are planning a trip to Newfoundland this summer, so we won't have to wait a whole year to see them again!

Happy Halloween!!!!

We had a beautiful sunny day for Halloween this year, which was nice, usually its pretty chilly and we have to bundle the kids up under their costumes. This year they just had a layer of clothes underneath.

Raven was a genie, River and Kiki baby were both black cats!

wagging her tail...

River, tail in hand....lol

Raven, the genie

My baby sis and her bff Molly or should I say Luigi...lol

The beautiful old women in this picture is my mom....she even hobbled around all night...lol

We only got 7 trick or treaters at our house, when we lived in Shearwater, it was nothing to see 300-400!!! So needless to say, there is LOTS of treats left over....lol
