I am looking for diy infor on how to paint over outdated bathroom tile.
I just don't have the money to gut this bathroom right now, so I was thinking about painting the tile.
The only thing is I can't find anything on how to do it.
And I also don't just want to paint over it, I also want to do a decorative finish, so it will look like "new" ceramic tile. Does that make sense?
So if any of you have any tips, or know of a where I can learn about painting tile please let me know!
Thanks for visiting and following today! We once had a pink and black bathroom...eek. It was not cute in the retro way, at all. We actually had someone come in and spray all the tile. They did an amazing job. And it was pretty reasonably priced. But, you can paint over it yourself with a really good primer and an oil based paint. However you shouldn't paint the tub surround or the tub itself, or the sink, for that matter, because it gets wet. You can paint your counter too, however I've never really liked what I see with painted counters....just a thought! Can't wait to see it when you are done!
ReplyDeleteOh, then you can take a grout sander to the grouted parts and regrout the tile so that it looks new. It's pretty inexpensive to do, just laborious.....good luck!
ReplyDeleteAs someone who had TEAL tile in the bathroom at one point - fixing it isn't as expensive as you'd think! I looked FOREVER trying to find diy instructions on painting bathroom tile and couldn't find any either. We ended up removing the tile ourselves and putting up some simple wainscotting from Lowe's. It was REALLY easy and cheap! For the shower, we pulled the old tiles out and put up some 12 x 12 tiles that were on Clearance at Lowe's as well. It really wasn't hard or expensive at all!
