House update

Here is a before and after of our house as it looks now, the after photo was taken a slightly different angle then the before photo, the electric pole and neighbors fence have always been there.

 It looks so much better!!!

The front door is so much more inviting now, the little sign on the star says "Forget the dogs, Beware of the kids" lol Thought it was fitting for our house!

With the addition of the covered front porch deck, I really enjoy having my morning coffee out there, listening to the boats past by, and the loons.

...And enjoying a glass of wine at night!

We also covered up the over grown old cement walkway with this wooden boardwalk, adding to the beachy-ness of our beach house. (Love the bright green lawn tractor?? lol forgot to move it...)

Now here are some of photos of the reno process....we did not do this ourselves, we seriously are not that talented. We hired a wonderful contractor, who we have used a few more times since this.

This is the new door just installed, it already was a major improvement over what was there before.

We only did vinyl siding on the second story, it was a add on after the original house was built, by the previous owners (my parents) and up there was abitibi siding, which if you have never heard of it was basically pressed wood. It sucks! And because they don't even make it anymore,we had no choice but to rip it all off and go with vinyl. The original part of the house (the ground floor) is wood siding that was in really great shape, so instead of ripping it all off and going with vinyl, we decided to cut cost, and paint it. A decision I am still (2 years later) happy with. Down the road (when we have more money) we will probably do vinyl , but for now its fine.

It took 3 men (my husband is the middle one) to put the living room window in place! Its huge!!

I love the light it lets into the room.

These two windows are bedroom windows, as you can see from the window still intact (which is the original), we went with bigger windows here also. This was a great choice! It makes such a huge difference on the look of the exterior, and I love how the big windows look in the bedrooms!

Our black Lab was wondering what was going on....she liked the big whole in the front of the house. lol

looking out from the living room.....what a mess!

And just as soon as all the windows were in.....this happened!

And I might as well show you that September's (2012) 1st day of school photos
